Spied - 2013 Renault Fluence facelift caught testing in Chennai
Tamil motoring magazine, Motor Vikatan, has caught the 2013 Renault Fluence facelift testing near Renault-Nissan's plant in Chennai. The updated Fluence was earlier spied in July this year inside the carmaker's Oragadam plant, and we have every reason to believe that production has already commenced.
The refreshed Fluence was unveiled in late 2012 at the Istanbul Auto Show, and European sales of the sedan commenced soon after that. The mid-life facelift gets an updated front fascia with redesigned headlights, an all-new family grille, and a new front bumper with LED running lights. The rest of the car remains unchanged, save for a new alloy design.
Inside, Renault has updated the upholstery on the seats, while the overall dashboard layout has been carried over from the pre-facelift model. Top-end variants of the Fluence get Renault's new R-Link multimedia system with an integrated navigation system.
The updated Fluence is expected to continue using the 1.5-liter K9K diesel engine in its 110 PS/240 Nm spec. Renault also sells the car with a 2.0-liter petrol engine mated to a CVT transmission.
For 2014, Renault does not plan to introduce an all-new model in India. Instead, the carmaker will launch the refreshed variants of the Fluence, Duster and Koleos. We expect to see the 2013 Fluence at the upcoming Auto Expo in February next year.
