Frankfurt Live - 2014 Alfa Giulietta facelift should have Romeo drooling; 2014 MiTo says me too!

The 2014 Alfa Romeo Giulietta broke cover here at the Frankfurt Motor Show this afternoon. The facelift operation endows the car with external cosmetic differences such as redesigned front grille, foglamps with chrome bezel, and new 16-, 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Besides, Alfa Romeo introduces 3 new exterior liveries (Bronze, Anodizzato, Moonlight Pearl and Blue). The cabin gets the Uconnect infotainment system with a 5- or 6.5-inch touchscreen display that responds to voice commands, displays 3D maps, and reads multimedia from various sources.

New storage compartments, wrap-around seats with new trim, new door panels, new steering wheels and a redesigned dashboard constitute the car's interior. The top-end 'Quadrifoglio Verde' variant gets sports seats upholstered in black leather/Alcantara with contrasting stitching.

Six airbags, ESC, ASR and a tire pressure monitoring system are standard across all variants.

Moving to the mechanical package, the Giulietta is powered by either a 2.0-liter JTDM 2 diesel engine that develops 150hp and a peak torque of 380 Nm, or a 1.4-liter Multiair petrol engine that develops 170 HP, paired to a twin-clutch transmission.

Alfa Romeo will start retailing the updated model from October, beginning with the main European markets.
