New York Live - Bentley Continental Flying Spur revealed for the American market
While the world premiere of new Bentley Flying Spur was conducted at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this month, its launch in the US is being held today at the New York Auto Show.
Bentley claims they have fully re-designed and re-engineered almost every part of the Flying Spur. The car weighs 50kg less than the model it replaces.
Bentley’s 6.0-litre, twin turbo W12 engine, paired to a ZF eight-speed transmission sits under the bonnet. It develops 616 bhp and 800 Nm of torque and makes the Flying Spur the most powerful four door Bentley in the history of the company.
It rockets the car to 100kph from a standstill in 4.3 seconds and enables it to achieve a top speed of 322 kph. Power is laid on the road using an all-wheel-drive system with a 40:60 rear-biased torque distribution.
The exterior is characterized by sharp feature lines and muscular rear haunches. LED daytime running lights, dipped head- and tail-lights. The roof line is lower than the out going car which has resulted in the improvement in the drag coefficient which stands at 0.29 Cd. The interior is tailored with hand-crafted leather hides and wood veneers.
Occupants can enjoy touch-screen infotainment, mobile connectivity including Wi-Fi, a Rear Seat Entertainment suite complete with individual 10" inch screen and a hand-held Touch Screen Remote which allows rear seat passengers to adjust the features of the car. Music is played through an eight-channel, eight-speaker audio system with a 1100 W output as an option.
