Guangzhou Live - 2014 Honda Fit (Honda Jazz)
India-bound in 2015.
The 2015 Honda Jazz which was launched in China earlier this year is in attendance at the Guangzhou Auto Show 2014 alongside the new Vezel and XR-V crossovers.
Manufactured by the Guangzhou-Honda JV, the Fit for the Chinese market is available with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder i-VTEC petrol engine which puts out a healthy 130 hp at 6,600 rpm and 155 Nm of torque at 4,600 rpm. The drive is transferred to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT.
The new gen hatchback is shorter than the outgoing model by 35 mm at 3,955 mm but is wider by 8 mm at 1,702 mm. The wheelbase has been extended by 30 mm to 2,530 mm while the height remains the same at 1,524 mm.
The premium hatchback is suspended by McPherson struts upfront and torsion-beam setup at the rear. The front wheels are retarded by discs while the rear makes do with standard drums.
Competition to the Fit in China comes from the likes of VW Polo, Ford Fiesta hatchback and Toyota Yaris L.
The new Honda Jazz would be launched in India sometime in the first half of 2015. The Indian version would get a less powerful 1.2-litre four-cylinder i-VTEC petrol engine and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder i-DTEC diesel engine.
