Mazda to have a world premiere today via Xbox Live, is it the 2014 Mazda3?
Mazda has released a teaser informing that it will unveil something new, but the debut is going to take place through Xbox Live.
It has become an emerging trend to premiere a car through gaming consoles. Not a bad idea considering that consoles like Xbox and Play Station manage to confine to the couches, the children, youngsters and grownups alike. If you remember, Mercedes preferred the Play Station to stage the global premiere of the CLA 45 AMG!
So what is Mazda going to show us today? The teaser only shows the front grill of the car and we have reasons to suspect that it could be the upcoming 2014 Mazda3 hatchback. Whatever it is, the Japanese car maker is terming it as a "Gamechanger".
The unveiling will be broadcasted live through Microsoft's Xbox Live gaming console. The program is scheduled at 8:45 PM EDT.
The new Mazda3 is expected to be showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September. The car is said to be based on the same platform as the CX-5 SUV.
While the powertrain options still remain unclear, reports suggest that the Mazda3 could make use of the 2.0 litre SKYACTIV-G petrol engine that generates 155 bhp and 203 Nm of torque. The transmission options could be a SKYACTIV-MT 6-speed manual or SKYACTIV-Drive 6-speed automatic.
