IAB Report - 21 cars headed to India from the 2014 Paris Motor Show
The ongoing 2014 Paris Motor Show is exhibiting at least 21 cars that will be arriving to Indian shores by the end of next year.
1. 2014 Mini
The new generation Mini is confirmed to launch in India by the end of this year. The latest iteration of the iconic 'small car' is larger in dimension than the model it replaces, and comes powered by three- and four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.
2. 2015 MY Range Rover and Range Rover Sport
The two SUVs get minor updates like satin-gray finish for the wheels, a standard fixed panoramic roof, new colors and Land Rover's InControl Apps. The update also sees the 4.4-liter diesel engine pushing out 740 Nm of torque as against 700 Nm.
3. Maruti Suzuki SX4 S-Cross
The SX4 S-Cross will go on sale in India early next year. It will rival the Mahindra Scorpio, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano, and will come powered by petrol and diesel engines.
4. 2015 Honda CR-V (facelift)
The CR-V received cosmetic changes like updated headlights, a redesigned grille and skid plate and LED detailing for the taillights. Expect the refreshed CR-V to launch in India next year.
5. 2015 Porsche Cayenne (facelift)
Porsche's best selling SUV saw updates coming in the form of new LED headlights, redesigned taillights and front and rear bumpers. The interior gets a new 3-spoke steering wheel design, while the pair of diesel engines (V6 and V8) get a minor step up in power and torque figures. The new Cayenne launches in India next year.
6. 2015 VW Passat
The new generation Passat, which had its public premiere at the Paris show, is headed to India next year. Based on the new MQB platform, the new Passat is lighter than its predecessor by nearly 85 kg.
7. 2015 Mercedes C Class and C63 AMG
The normal C Class is reported to have its Indian launch early next year. The heavily performance oriented C63 AMG, which is powered by a new 4.0-liter V8 engine, is expected in the later part of next year.
8. 2015 BMW X6
BMW's flagship SUV, the X6, moved to its next generation model at the Paris show. The new X6 gets a bit more aggressive on the styling front, and sports minor weight savings as well. An Indian launch should take place next year.
9. Mercedes AMG-GT
The Stuttgart-based brand's new flagship, the AMG-GT, world premiered at the Paris Motor Show. Given that Mercedes was selling the SLS AMG in India as part of a brand shaping exercise, expect to see the new AMG-GT in India sometime next year or at the 2016 Auto Expo.
10. 2015 Mercedes B Class (facelift)
The midlife update brings to the B Class new headlights, a new front bumper, LED taillights and a new 3-spoke steering wheel. The B Class facelift should make it to India in mid-2015.
11. Land Rover Discovery Sport
A replacement to the Freelander, the new Discovery Sport comes with seven seats and a host of new features coupled with a more modern design inside and out. Expect it in India either late next year or in 2016.
12. Jaguar XE
Jaguar's baby sedan, the XE, takes the fight to the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C Class and Audi A4. The new XE and Discovery Sport would be big ticket launches for JLR in India next year (or in 2016).
13. 2015 Audi A6 (facelift)
The mildly updated Audi A6 now gets LED Matrix headlights, dynamic turn indicators, LED taillights and refreshed bumpers and grille. Audi India should launch the updated model next year.
14. 2014 Honda Jazz
The new Honda Jazz will go on sale in India by March next year. It will be powered by a 1.2-liter petrol and 1.5-liter diesel engine.
15. Maruti Swift facelift
The Swift facelift is reportedly in production in India, though a market launch is yet to take place. It is expected to arrive by end of this year.
16. 2015 Volvo XC90
The next generation Volvo XC90 based on the SPA (Scalable Platform Architecture) will start sales in India in mid-2015.
17. Renault Lodgy
The Dacia-branded Lodgy Stepway was shown at Paris, and the Renault-badged model will commence Indian sales early next year.
18. Mercedes CLA
The CLA, as announced by Mercedes-Benz India, will launch in the country by early next year. It will rival the Audi A3 Sedan.
19. 2015 Mercedes CLS (facelift)
Like the B Class, the CLS too gets newly designed LED light structures, a revised grille and refreshed bumpers. The CLS facelift can be expected sometime early next year in India.
