IAB Report - 2014 Renault Fluence facelift launched at INR 13.99 lakhs

Renault launched the 2014 Renault Fluence facelift in India yesterday with prices starting from INR 13.99 lakhs. The refreshed Fluence was world premiered in late 2012 at the Istanbul Auto Show with European sales commencing soon after.

The refreshed Fluence was shown at the Auto Expo last month.

The Fluence and Koleos were Renault's first products to be offered in India (as an independent company). Renault announced back then that it would follow a top-down strategy wherein premium cars, like the Fluence and Koleos, would be launched first to build a name for the brand. Sadly, this strategy did not work out for the brand and sales of both, premium cars like Fluence and lower-end cars like Pulse, never saw the desired results.

No changes to the rear of the sedan.

The updated Fluence hopes to do better than its predecessor with its newly designed headlights, grille and front bumper with LED daytime running lights. Inside, Renault have included an Arkamy's 3D surround sound system, while the rest of the dashboard and features remain the same.

Renault will no longer sell the petrol Fluence which was available with an automatic transmission. Instead, the sedan will be sold only with the 1.5-liter K9K diesel which produces 110 PS and 240 Nm of torque. Matched to a 6-speed manual gearbox, the Fluence claims an ARAI certified 20.4 km/l.

The interiors get a new music system.

The Fluence E2 trim is priced at INR 13.99 lakhs, while the E4 trim is priced at INR 15.49 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi. Renault had displayed the facelifted Fluence at the 2014 Auto Expo last month.
