INTERMOT 2014 Live - 2015 BMW S 1000 RR
Lighter and more powerful than before.
The INTERMOT 2014 witnessed the unveiling of the 2015 BMW S 1000 RR litre class superbike.
The new flagship superbike from the German retains its distinct asymmetric headlamps concept but features revised and repositioned elements. The motorcycle also undergoes a comprehensive bodywork redesign while ensuring that it is instantly recognizable.
Mechanically, the 999 cc in-line four-cylinder engine is tweaked to put out 199 PS which is 6 PS more than the previous iteration. The torque output of 133 Nm stays the same but the company claims that the engine now offers a broad torque plateau between 9,500 and 12,000 rpm.
The new S 1000 RR also benefits from a lighter frame with revised chassis geometry for better handling and feedback. At a weight of 204 kg (with full tank fuel) the bike is 4 kg lighter than the outgoing model but is more rigid and stiffer.
Electronic nannies like ABS, DTC and Dynamic Damping Control have been tweaked for improved performance, says the company. The superbike also gets optional features like Electronic Speed Control, HP Gearshift Assist Pro, Launch Control, Pit Lane speed limiter and Cruise control.
The 2015 BMW S 1000 RR is available in three color schemes - Racing Red / Light White, Black Storm metallic and BMW Motorsport.
