NAIAS Live - 2015 Mercedes-Benz C Class
Announced in December last year, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C Class had its public unveiling at the Detroit Motor Show today.
Compared to its predecessor, the new C Class is 95 mm longer, 40 mm wider while the wheelbase has grown by 80 mm. Yet, the sedan is 100 kg lighter than the outgoing car thanks to a new hybrid aluminium construction.
The new C Class uses Mercedes's MRA architecture and is available with three engine options as of now - two petrols and one diesel. All engines come paired to a 6-speed manual transmission, while a dual-clutch 7-speed gearbox is also available as an option.
The quickest engine of the lot, a 1,991 cc petrol motor, produces 184 hp and 300 Nm of torque and can accelerate the sedan from 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds.
Optional features on the new C Class include an AIRMATIC air suspension system, ATTENTION ASSIST, DISTRONIC PLUS, PRE-SAFE brake and Active Lane Keeping Assist.
