2015 Volvo XC90 bags 266 bookings in India - IAB Report
All bookings are for the top-end Inscription variant.
The all-new Volvo XC90 has received 266 pre-orders in India. Order books officially opened in the country on May 12, the day when the prices were announced. The new generation model will begin to be delivered by the end of this month.
Based on Volvo’s in-house developed platform, the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), the new XC90 represents the automaker's future design path and technologies.
The 2015 Volvo XC90 is available in India in two variants - the Momentum and the Inscription are priced at INR 64.9 lakhs and INR 77.9 lakhs (ex-Showroom, Mumbai, pre-Octroi), respectively. The fully loaded XC90 Inscription is the variant for which all the 266 bookings have been made, in India.
Commenting on the reception for the all-new XC90, Tom von Bonsdorff, Managing Director of Volvo Auto India, said that the company is witnessing a positive momentum even before the deliveries of the new XC90 has commenced. He added that the new XC90 makes way for a range of new models to arrive in India in the years to come.
The XC90 in India is powered with a 2.0-liter twin turbo D5 diesel engine making 225 hp at 4,250 rpm and 470 Nm of torque between 1750 - 2500 rpm. Paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission, power is sent to all four wheels.
On a global scale, the 2015 Volvo XC90 has received over 57,000 bookings, 76 percent of which has been registered for the top-end Inscription variant. To cater to demand, the Torslanda plant in Gothenburg, Sweden has commenced a third shift of production.
