2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia – 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show Live
It is the spiritual successor to the Alfa Romeo 159.
The 2015 Alfa Romeo Giulia has made its motor show debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, but in its top-end Quadrifoglio Verde (QV) variant.
The Giulia is based on Alfa Romeo's new rear-wheel drive architecture, emphasizing on the sporty nature of the four-door sedan. The face features the distinctive trefoil nose with the inverted triangular grille splitting the bumper in the middle, thus breaking up the huge air dam. The sleek headlights get projector lenses as well as LED DRLs. The domed hood sports air ducts to better cool the engine.
The sides has the ‘Cloverleaf’ badge on the fender just above the air intakes, while the rear-end comes with slim LED tail lights, rear spoiler and quad exhausts housed within the diffuser. The QV, which is the performance variant, also gets an Active Aero splitter at the front for better downforce at high speeds.
The cabin is adorned with premium materials and features carbon-fiber and wood for the trims. The human-machine interface is limited to two knobs that are used to control the Alfa DNA selector and the infotainment system. The cabin is centered around the driver, with most of the functions accessible from the steering wheel itself.
The QV variant packs an all new 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine developed by engineers from Ferrari, and is rated at 510 hp. Power is supplied to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox, and with an overall weight of just 1,524 kg, the sedan dashes from 0-100 kmph in just 3.9 seconds. For increased stopping power, the Giulia QV comes with optional carbon ceramic brakes.
