2016 Chevrolet Camaro convertible - Renderings
The new Camaro is available with three engine options.
Post the unveiling of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, digital artists Xtomi and DesignRM have come up with renderings of the Gen6 Camaro convertible, which according to reports could be unveiled towards the end of this year, or in 2016.
The 2016 Camaro convertible, apart from its open-top, looks exactly like its coupe sibling, though the rake angle of the windscreen appears to be different on the convertible. The Camaro convertible would also be predictably heavier than the coupe owing to additional strengthening materials engineers will have to use to compensate for the soft-top.
The 2016 Camaro coupe has dropped 90 kg over its predecessor thanks to extensive use of aluminium, which has also resulted in structural rigidity increasing by 28 percent. According to GM, 70 percent of the components were developed specifically for the new Camaro.
When it goes on sale, the convertible, much like the coupe, would be offered with three engine options - a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.6-liter V6 and finally a 6.2-liter V8. Paired to these engines are a 6-speed manual transmission or a new 8-speed automatic with paddle-shifters.

The 2.0-liter four-cylinder can accelerate the muscle car from 0-100 km/h in under 6 seconds, and yet achieve over 12.75 km/l, making it the most fuel efficient version of the Camaro ever made.
