Fiat have sold 1.5 million units since its launch in 2007.

Fiat have revealed a facelift for the iconic Fiat 500. The company claims that the the refresh brings 1,800 “innovative detail changes” that further modernizes the Cinquecento. It will available in 2 body styles, (coupe and convertible) and in 3 variants (Pop, Popstar and Lounge), with prices starting from £10,890 (INR 10.78 Lakhs).

Below is a pictorial comparison between the 2016 Fiat 500 and the 2007 model, covering the significant changes between the two.

Fiat 500 Exterior

Being a facelift, the 2016 Fiat 500 retains the basic chic silhouette. Compared to the outgoing model, it gets new headlamp clusters with oval LED daytime running lights underneath, an updated chrome ‘whiskers and badge’ set above the long and sleek single-slat grille, a new air intake with chrome surrounds for the fog lamps.

While the side remains virtually unchanged, the rear gets new LED lights, re-positioned reflectors housed in a chrome bar, and a sculpted bumper.

Fiat 500 Interior

The changes inside are as comprehensive as that of the outside. The facelifted Fiat 500 comes with a curvier three-spoke steering wheel with more chrome detailing, a larger instrument display and new tachometer scale, chrome-plated accents, and nine color combinations for the interior upholstery.

The only change in the dashboard is the set of central vents that are re-positioned to leave space for the 5-inch UConnect infotainment system, which runs TomTom Live services and Connected Navigation.

Fiat 500 Engines

The facelifted Fiat 500 will continue to offer the same engine lineup as in the outgoing model. The lineup includes a 1.2 litre with 69 hp, a 0.9-liter TwinAir engine available in two power tunes: 85 hp or 105 hp. For the first time, Fiat is also adding a diesel variant, which packs the 1.3-liter Multijet diesel engine delivering 95 PS and a rated CO2 emissions only 99 grams per kilometre.

The engines are paired to a choice between a 6-speed manual and a Magneti-Marelli-developed Dualogic automated manual transmission.
