2016 Fiat Bravo mule spotted in Italy - Spied

Could share its engine lineup with the Fiat 500X.

Fiat is currently working on the next generation Fiat Bravo C-segment hatchback, and spyshots of the test mules have surfaced online courtesy of carpassion.it.

The Bravo successor, will, reportedly, be based on the Fiat Small Wide platform.

Apparently, the project is called "Aegea", which (coincidentally) is also the name of the new sedan that Fiat unveiled in Istanbul. At the moment, it's unknown if the final production-spec hatchback would be offered as another body style of the Aegea sedan, which could be unveiled late this year, or sold as the next generation Bravo.

It will, reportedly, be based on the Fiat Small Wide platform, and sport a new design. From the spyshots, changes noticed are Punto-esque taillamps mounted on the C-Pillar, headlamps that look like the pair from the China-only Fiat Viaggio, and a normal Fiat grille. These are more likely temporary additions and not part of the final design.

Being based on the Fiat Small Wide platform, expect the hatchback to borrow the engine lineup from the current models that have adopted the new platform. One of the models, the Fiat 500X, offers four petrol and three diesel engines with choices of manual and 9-speed automatic transmissions.

The petrol lineup includes a 1.6-litre E-TorQ, 1.4-litre turbo MultiAir II in two different tunes, and a 2.4-litre Tigershark unit. Output ranges from 110 PS to 184 PS. Diesel engines include 1.3-, 1.6- and 2.0-litre MultiJet units, whose output ranges from 95 PS to 140 PS.
