India-bound 2016 Toyota Prius launched in Japan, priced from 2.4 million yen - IAB Report
Available in four trim levels: "E","S", "A", and "A Premium".
The 2016 Toyota Prius is now available for sale in Japan, which is the first market to get the next generation hybrid. Prices start from 2.4 million yen (INR 13.09 Lakhs) to 3,39 million yen (INR 18.51 Lakhs). Pre-orders total 60,000 vehicles in Japan, and Toyota expects to sell 12,000 units per month.
The new Prius is available in four trim levels: "E","S", "A", and "A Premium". Bi-Beam LED headlamps and smart keyless entry are standard on all grades, while the Toyota Safety Sense P collision avoidance and mitigation package, is standard on all "A" and "A Premium" grades.
There's also a "Touring Selection" option for "S" and "A" trims, which comes with features like 215/45 R17 tires, aluminum wheels, and synthetic leather seats. The top-end A Premium gets genuine leather seats and leather wrapped steering wheel.

Power is sourced from a 1.8-liter four-cylinder DOHC engine that makes 97 bhp at 5,200 rpm and 142 Nm of torque at 3,600 rpm from its naturally aspirated engine. It is paired to an electric motor which sources power from a nickel metal hydride battery that contributes a further 71 bhp. Customers going for the "Touring Selection" option can spec the E-Four electronic four-wheel drive system.
It is also confirmed to debut in the Indian market at the Auto Expo 2016 in February.
