Will be based on GM's C1XX platform.

The 2017 GMC Acadia has been spied testing near GM's Milford Proving Grounds in Michigan, USA by Anthony Herta of Youth Autos. The spyshots reveal probably a lower-specced Acadia, featuring a single, circular tailpipe on the right side. The crossover will be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show 2016 next week.

With the 2017 model year, the GMC Acadia will enter its second generation.

Features seen on the new Acadia include grey plastic body cladding on the sides and rear, muscular wheel arches with a squarish shape, curvier greenhouse embellished with chrome surrounds, C-shaped LED tail lights, new rear bumper and skid plates.

The current, first generation GMC Acadia was introduced in late 2006 and will enter its second generation with this model. There hasn't been a confirmation, but reports say that the 2017 GMC Acadia will be based on GM's Chi (C1XX) platform that is used for mid-size and full-size crossovers/SUVs. It's essentially just another version of the E2XX platform underpinning the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu and the 2017 Cadillac XT5.

The 2017 GMC Acadia should be offered with a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine also.

The 2017 GMC Acadia may come with a new 3.6-liter naturally aspirated V6 gasoline engine and a new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine. Both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive drivetrain layouts will be offered.
