2017 KTM RC390 & 2017 KTM RC200 launch in India on 19 January
KTM RC390 gets more changes than the RC200.
KTM India has confirmed the launch of the 2017 KTM RC models on January 19, 2017. These are the 2017 KTM RC390 and 2017 KTM RC200. Changes include cosmetic as well as mechanical alterations.
The 2017 KTM RC390 gets a new side-mounted canister exhaust system, helping the mini sports bike turn more eco-friendly and meet BSIV compliance. It also features a bigger diameter 320 mm front disc adding to the stopping power of the motorcycle. The 2017 KTM RC390 continues to have dual channel ABS as standard.
The bike draws power from the same 373 cc single cylinder, liquid-cooled mill coupled to a six-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch. The engine is capable of 43.5 PS of maximum power at 9,000 rpm and 36 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm (up from 35 Nm). The addition of a new exhaust system though raises the kerb weight of the bike by 4 kg, registering at 170 kg.
The KTM RC390 in India is also expected to gain ride by wire, a feature which has been present in the European 2016 models but skipped for India. All this, however, guarantees a small price hike.
The press conference on 19 January also witnesses the launch of 2017 KTM RC200. KTM India's entry-level bike gets minor cosmetic changes and a thicker pillion seat. The 199.5 cc single cylinder continues producing 25 PS of maximum power at 10,000 rpm and 19.2 Nm of peak torque at 8,000 rpm.
KTM is also expected to launch the totally-revamped 2017 KTM Duke 390 in India within a few months.
