2017 Yamaha V-Ixion busted ahead of unveil - Indonesia

A new spy image has come up from Indonesia of the 2017 Yamaha V-Ixion thanks to IwanBanaran. The bike looks significantly more muscular than the present version and may get powered by the new powertrain found in the Yamaha R15 v3.0.

The 2017 Yamaha V-Ixion is confirmed to get standard telescopic forks.

At present, the Yamaha V-Ixion shares the 149.8 cc mill with the Yamaha R15 v2.0, so it is natural to expect the 155.1 cc mill from the Yamaha R15 v3.0 to make its way to the 2017 V-Ixion. The single cylinder, SOHC mill with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology is capable of producing 19.31 PS of maximum power at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm. The 2017 Yamaha R15 v3.0 also gets a slipper and assist clutch.

Now the slipper clutch may not make it to the new Yamaha V-Ixion, but a 19.31 PS engine certainly sounds like much fun. The spy shot also reveals that the 2017 Yamaha V-Ixion will not be getting upside down forks up front as predicted in various renderings. It signifies that the bike might not be a premium motorcycle as we had imagined it to be.

The report adds that the Yamaha Indonesia has commenced production of the next generation Yamaha V-Ixion. The bike will also continue with a halogen lamp and will not be getting a fancy LED setup.

The powertrain for the 2017 Yamaha V-Ixion may be borrowed from the Yamaha R15 v3.0 just like its predecessor.

Based on the uncamouflaged state of the bike it is safe to assume that an official unveil may take place any before end of March.
