Datsun India will premiere the 2018 Datsun GO and Datsun GO+ to the Indian media on 9 October. Dealers IAB spoke to say that the vehicle will arrive in yards next month.

The 2018 Datsun GO and 2018 Datsun GO+ will offer several updates that should help the budget offerings come across as more upmarket products.

The refreshed duo is already on sale in Indonesia at a starting price of IDR 102,990,000 (INR 4,92,292.20). The India-spec models gain plenty from their Indonesian counterparts. That said, the sporty body kit for the Indonesia-spec models is unlikely to be launched in the Indian car market where ground clearance is a priority.

The styling changes to the front-end will include updated headlamps, a new bumper, LED DRLs, and a more upright hexagonal grille. In the side profile, the 2018 Datsun GO and 2018 Datsun GO+ are expected to get a set of 14-inch alloy wheels for the top-end trims. The wing mirrors will carry integrated turn indicators. At the rear, both the models will receive a new bumper and rear washer and wiper.

The interior of the 2018 Datsun GO and GO+ will have several updates to make the products become upmarket. The dashboard will be new, with circular AC vents replacing the rectangular units. The instrument cluster will feature an analogue tachometer. The exposed glovebox of the current car will make way for closable one.

The 2+1-like front seats will be replaced with individual bucket seats. Both front and rear seat occupants will benefit from ELR-type seat belts. The fully loaded variant of the GO could offer a 6.75-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The 2018 Datsun GO and Datsun GO+ will be powered by the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that powers the current model. The motor produces a maximum power of 68 PS at 5,000 rpm & a peak torque of 104 Nm at 4,000 rpm. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

The Indonesian-spec Datsun GO facelift is available with an optional CVT. India is likely to miss out on this option due to the cost-sensitive nature of the base car market.

The Datsun GO and the Datsun GO+ have a combined average monthly sales of 450 units (March 2018 - August 2018). The introduction of the facelifts will invariably get these numbers up.
