2018 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP - Auto Expo 2018 Live
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has showcased its litre-class flagship track tamer, the 2018 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP at the 2018 Auto Expo in Greater Noida. Here are the motorcycle’s live images from the show.
The 2018 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP is a lighter, more hardcore version of the regular Fireblade. The Fireblade SP is Honda’s first motorcycle to come with semi-active Ohlins Electronic Control (S-EC) suspension; lithium ion battery; quick-shifter with slipper clutch and Brembo front callipers. The motorcycle is 1kg lighter than the normal variant, at 195 kg, kerb. Instrumentation is a multi-functional TFT LCD screen which shows lap times, lap number, riding modes, and split timings as well.
Powering the Fireblade is a 999 cc in-line four liquid-cooled DOHC engine. It punches out 191.7 PS of power at 13,000 rpm and 114 Nm of torque at 11,000 rpm. The engine works in tandem with a 6-speed transmission with slipper clutch and Quickshifter.
Honda has built the bike with a diamond-type aluminium composite twin spar frame. For suspension, the bike employs semi-active 43 mm Ohlins NIX30 SmartEC front fork. It offers preload, compression and rebound adjustments. The rear uses an Ohlins Unit ProLink with a gas charged TTX36 SmartEC damper. This unit features preload, compression, and rebound damping adjustment.
The SP edition gets top-of-the-line Brembo brakes with cornering ABS. The on-board electronic wizardry includes Rear Lift Control (RLC); 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit; wheelie control; Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). There are multiple levels of riding modes as well, apart from a three-level engine braking control. At INR 21,22,190 (ex-Delhi), the 2018 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP is approximately INR 4.42 lakhs more expensive than the standard variant.
