2018 Lexus LS spotted testing in production body
Expected to debut at the NAIAS 2018.
It's been over a decade since we last saw an all-new Lexus LS. A completely redesigned model is in the works and is expected to arrive next year. In the latest, spy shots published by autoevolution reveal that Lexus is now indeed testing the 2018 Lexus LS in production body.
The fifth-gen Lexus LS will feature a design inspired by that of the Lexus LF-FC concept introduced at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. The LF-FC concept had a very futuristic design and dramatic proportions, thanks to the long bonnet and short tail and overhangs, and an appearance very close to that is what we hope with the next-gen LS.
Like the Lexus LC, the fifth generation Lexus LS could be underpinned by the company's all-new, premium rear-wheel-drive luxury platform that is part of the new corporate global architecture for luxury vehicles (GA-L). A Japanese magazine report says that the 2018 Lexus LS will measure 5,225 mm in length and 1,900 mm in width, and have a wheelbase longer than 3,000 mm. In comparison, the current JP-spec Lexus LS is 5,090 mm (LWB – 5,210 mm) in length and 1,875 mm in width, and has a wheelbase of 2,970 mm (LWB – 3,090 mm)

The 2018 Lexus LS will reportedly be offered with a 3.0-litre turbocharged engine and a 3.5-litre V6 hybrid at the launch in Japan. The 5.0-litre V8 engine from the LC 500 will also be available in the redesigned model, targeting global markets.
