2018 Maruti Ciaz test mule spotted ahead of launch in August
Test mules of the 2018 Maruti Ciaz (facelift) continue to be spotted on public roads as the launch of the refreshed product nears. GaadiWaadi has published images of one such camouflaged unit of the Ciaz facelift.
Despite the heavy masking to hide the bodywork, the new grille and bumper design are partially visible. The is no break between the grille and headlight, unlike the outgoing model. The front bumper gets more pronounced edges around the fog lamps and a redesigned lower lip. This particular example receives the same tail light cluster as the one it will replace.
Based on the presence of headlights and taillights similar to the current model and 15-inch alloy wheels from the second from top Delta grade, we reckon this is not the top-end Z trim of the 2018 Maruti Ciaz. Spy shots published previously have revealed that the Ciaz facelift with sport new headlights with black bezels and LED lamps, as well as LED tail lamps.
Inside the Ciaz, the revisions will be minor. The dark faux wood inserts have been swapped out for a lighter shade. There is a revised instrument cluster present as well. Spy pictures have confirmed that the new Maruti Ciaz will be equipped with cruise control. There is speculation suggesting the presence of a sunroof as well.
Maruti will replace the Ciaz's 1.4 L K14B petrol with a new 1.5 L K15B petrol engine. This 4-cylinder unit that powers the 2018 Suzuki Ertiga, as well as the new Suzuki Jimny, will produce power and torque in the 104 PS and 138 Nm region respectively. 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission choices are expected. This engine will feature mild-hybrid technology as well.
The Ciaz will receive a new 1.5 L diesel engine as well, but that will not happen until next year. For now, the 1.3 L DDiS 200 engine will continue to serve diesel variants of the Maruti Ciaz. This 90 PS and 200 Nm 4-cylinder unit pairs with a 5-speed manual transmission.
