2018 Yamaha YZF-R25 launched in Malaysia
Hong Leong Yamaha, the Japanese company’s authorised distributor has launched the 2018 Yamaha YZF-R25 in the country at the same price as the 2017 model. It costs MYR 20,630, including GST.
The 2018 Yamaha YZF-R25 comes in two new colours, Blue and Black, with alloys matching the body colour. Apart from the new colour, there are no changes to the bike. The YZF-R25 comes with twin Predator headlights and an LED tail light. Instrumentation is an analogue-digital combo unit.

The 249 cc twin cylinder DOHC engine sits inside a diamond-type frame. The engine generates 36 PS of power at 12,000 rpm, and 22.6 Nm of torque at 10,000 rpm. A six-speed transmission does duty in the bike. A monocross twin-tube rear unit and a front telescopic fork handle the suspension responsibility. Brakes include discs on both ends, but without ABS.
The 2018 Yamaha YZF-R25 weighs 166 kg wet, and comes with a 14.3-litre fuel tank. The 17-inch alloy wheels are shod with 110-section front and 140-section rear rubber. The bike will be available from this month at authorised dealerships. In the Malaysian market, key rivals include KTM RC 250, Kawasaki Ninja 250, and Honda CBR 250R.
