According to the leaked specification sheet, the 2019 S1000RR will continue to use the 999cc, liquid-cooled, in-line 4-cylinder, four-stroke engine with four titanium valves per cylinder and BMW ShiftCam. The engine will deliver healthier numbers than the model it will replace. Maximum power on the 2019 model is rated at 207 hp at 13,500 rpm while the peak torque stands at 113 Nm at 11,000 rpm. In comparison, the outgoing model was tuned to churn out a maximum power of 199 hp at 13,500 rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque at 10,500 rpm.
Standard equipment will include BMW Motorrad Race ABS, ABS Pro, 4 riding modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race), DTC, Hill Start Control (HSC), Shift Assist Pro, TFT-display, LED turn signal, LED headlight and rear light. Optional accessories list packs carbon parts, tinted windshield, bubble windshield, bubble tinted windshield, Datalogger, Laptrigger, Tank bag and rear bag. There is no mention of smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth in the spec-sheet.
Apart from the bigger engine, the 2019 BMW S1000RR will also receive a revised fascia. The motorcycle will drop its renowned asymmetrical headlight for a sleeker setup. However, it will retain its asymmetrical fairing recesses. The bike, similar to the current generation model, will feature a gill-like pattern on the right side and a single opening on the left.
The 2019 model is also lighter than the current generation model. While the current BMW S1000RR tips the weighing scale at 208 kg (kerb), the new model will shed as much as 11 kilograms at 197 (kerb). The optional M Package will further reduce the weight to 193.5 kg. The lighter weight, along with the more powerful engine, will give the motorcycle a healthier power-to-weight ratio. The leaked photograph also reveals the new subframe that will feature a new trellis design.
