2019 BMW X5 to launch in India on May 16 - Report
Autocar reports that the 2019 BMW X5 will launch in India on May 16, 2019. The fourth-gen SAV will be initially sold exclusively in the xDrive30d variant.
The fourth-gen X5 sports an evolutionary design that is bolder and more sophisticated than that of the outgoing model. The front-end of the 2019 BMW X5 features a more prominent Kidney grille with the single-piece-surround, while the adaptive LED headlamps bost the company's Laserlight technology, which ensures a 10 times brighter light than conventional LED units. The side profile looks more dynamic, which is due to a crisp character line that rises up at the rear door. The rear-end is characterised by sleek LED lamps that look a lot like the ones on the previous version.
On the inside, the 2019 BMW X4 features a classy design that seems to have been inspired by the 8 Series and the new X3. The highlights include a raised seating position, a 12.3-inch virtual instrument cluster, panoramic glass roof Sky Loung, and the company's third generation head-up display that has a larger projection area. Moreover, the earlier version's 10.25-inch infotainment display has made way for a 12.3-inch unit, while the front seats have gained the massage feature.
The 2019 BMW X5 xDrive30d variant is propelled by a 3.0-litre diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 265 PS at 4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 620 Nm at 2,000-2,500 rpm. The motor comes paired with an updated 8-speed Steptronic transmission that sends power to all four wheels through a new xDrive AWD system. The new model can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds. At a later stage, the company will launch the xDrive40i variant, which is powered by a 3.0-litre, turbocharged 6-cylinder petrol engine that makes 340 PS and 500 Nm
The 2019 BMW X5 measures 4,922 mm in length, 2,004 mm in width, and 1,745 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,975 mm, which is 42 mm longer than that of the predecessor. The new model is 36 mm longer, 66 mm wider, and 19 mm taller than the previous version.
