2019 BMW Z4 - BIMS 2019 Live
The 2019 BMW Z4 has been displayed at the ongoing Bangkok International Motor Show. The latest-gen Z4 costs 3.999 to 4.999 million baht (INR 86,56,333 - INR 95,24,131) in Thailand.
The 2019 BMW Z4 was previewed by the Concept Z4, which debuted at the Concours d’Elegance at Pebble Beach in August 2017. The aesthetics of the new model mirror that of the concept vehicle to a great extent. Among the highlights of the two-seater sportscar are the really short front and rear overhangs and a fabric roof that replaces the aluminium unit of the predecessor. The roof, which can be opened and closed in 10 seconds, has led to a 50 kg lower weight than the previous version. The new Z4 measures 4,324 mm in length, 1,864 mm in width, and 1,304 mm in height. Compared to the last-gen model, the new version is 85 mm longer, 74 mm wider, and 13 mm taller.
The talking point of the interior is the all-new 10.2-inch fully digital instrument panel and a touchscreen infotainment system that supports iDrive 7.0. Other than the conventional rotary controller, the advanced infotainment unit even supports voice and touch inputs. The 2019 BMW Z4 offers 281-litres of boot space, regardless of the position of the roof. In comparison, the 310-litre of the luggage-carrying capacity of the earlier model reduces to just 180-litre on folding the roof.
The Thai-spec 2019 BMW Z4 is available in sDrive 30i and M40i variants. The former features a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine that outputs 256 bhp, while the latter gets its juice from a 3.0-litre straight-six petrol engine that produces 340 bhp. The range-topping model even features electronically controlled dampers, M Sport brakes, and an M Sport differential. Both the engine variants sport an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

In Thailand, the closest two-seater rival of the 2019 BMW Z4 is the Porsche 718 Boxter, which has a starting price of more than seven million baht (INR 1,51,52,371).
