On 17 August, we brought a tentative rendering of the upcoming 2019 Yamaha R25 (new Yamaha R3). Now, Japanese magazine Young Machine has come up with a new rendering of the YZF-R25, based on the latest spy media.

The 2019 Yamaha R25 rendering will feature USD front forks, redesigned front fairing with faux RAM air intake and a revised tail section.

The Yamaha R25 (new Yamaha R3) rendering draws inspiration from the changes in the test mule spied testing earlier this month. The motorcycle features Yamaha R1-inspired front fairing with a faux RAM air intake that separates the LED headlights. Apart from the updated fairing, the bike also gets redesigned side panels, fuel tank, and tail section. The telescopic front forks make way for the golden USD forks. The rendering carries forward the diamond-type chassis, the 17-inch alloy wheels, and the swingarm.

According to a 2 July report, the production-spec 2019 Yamaha R25 will reportedly feature a new chassis and mechanical upgrades like a slipper clutch and VVA (variable valve actuation). The motorcycle is also expected to receive an all-digital instrument cluster and new colour options. The mechanical and cosmetic updates will eventually make their way into the 2019 Yamaha R3, which will be launched in India as well as other global markets.

The new generation YZF-R25 is likely to go on sale in the Asian markets sometime next year. India Yamaha Motor could launch the new R3 around early 2020.

The current-generation Yamaha R25 sources power from a 249 cc, twin-cylinder, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled engine that is tuned to produce a maximum power of 36 PS at 12,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 22.6 Nm at 10,000 rpm, mated to a 6-speed transmission. That said, the India-spec Yamaha employs a 321 cc, liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine with fuel injection that pumps out 42 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 29.6 Nm. The engine pairs to the 6-speed gearbox seen on the R25.

The 2019 Yamaha R25 and the Yamaha R3 will reportedly feature mechanical upgrades like VVA and slipper clutch.

Braking components include a 298 mm front disc and 220 mm rear rotor with 2-piston callipers, while dual-channel ABS is standard. The Yamaha R25 rivals the Honda CBR250RR and the Kawasaki Ninja 250, while the Yamaha R3 competes with the Kawasaki Ninja 300, KTM RC 390, TVS Apache RR310 and the Benelli 302R.
