7-seat Mahindra XUV300 (Mahindra XUV400) confirmed, codenamed ‘Mahindra S204’
Like the SsangYong Tivoli on which it is based, the Mahindra XUV300 will have a longer version. This development has been officially confirmed to European media via the mid-term roadmap.
The 7-seat Mahindra XUV300 is rumoured to be named Mahindra XUV400. It will slot below the Mahindra XUV300 C-SUV. Under the hood, in the Euro-spec version, there will be a 1.5-litre GDI naturally aspirated direct-injection four-cylinder petrol engine. This will likely be the same unit that will debut in the Mahindra Marazzo next year.
Whether the 7-seat Mahindra XUV300/Mahindra XUV400 gets the 5-seat Mahindra XUV300's design or the SsangYong Tivoli Air (SsangYong Tivoli XLV)'s design remains to be seen. The image used by Mahindra in its roadmap is of the latter, which is a longer version of the SsangYong Tivoli on which the 5-seat Mahindra XUV300 is based.
For reference, the SsangYong Tivoli Air (SsangYong Tivoli XLV) measures 4,440 mm in length, 1,798 mm in width and 1,635 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. Its wheelbase is the same as that of the SsangYong Tivoli, and its extended rear overhang is meant for additional luggage space, not an extra row of seats.
The regular (shorter) 5-seater Mahindra XUV300 which is currently present in India comes with a host of comfort and convenience such as electric sunroof, leatherette upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control and 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with GPS navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The longer (7-seat) version is expected to offer additional features for more comfort.
