Audi's plans to put an end to the X1's monopoly lies on the performance of the Q3 when it arrives here next year. But here's another product that could spell trouble for the Honda's, Skoda's and Toyota's costing 20 lakh or more - A3 sedan.

Reports on the internet hint at the possibility of a A3 sedan concept at the Audi stall during the Geneva Motor Show scheduled to begin in the first week of March. The Swiss venue will see a whole lineup of Audis including production versions of crossovers Q3, hybrid Q5, and the entire future A3 range in the form of concept cars.

There's no official word on this development but Audi's future A3 range has 5 spin offs - 2-door cabriolet, 3-door coupe and hatchback, 4-door sedan and an Avant version. The cabriolets and coupes are not suitable bodystyles for India.

We're interested in seeing the A3 sedan. Like other new Audis, this will be a scaled-down A4 with LED lights. There's speculation on the engines too - 1.2 liter, 1.4 liter and a new 1.6 liter petrol engines will be offered along with the 1.6 TDI and 2.0 TDI. Select, powerful engines will feature on the sedan. The 2.0-liter TDI is the obvious choice for this relatively inexpensive Audi here in India.

So is this 25 lakh rupee Audi sedan heading to India?

The source revealing these details claims Audi dealers in the US were shown these prototype models in a special preview session.
