Upcoming Bajaj Pulsar 150NS gets higher power & torque - Report

No increase in weight.

While the confusion continues about the naming convention for the latest 150 cc Pulsar, the specification of the new motorcycle have just been leaked in Turkey. And according to the leaked brochures, it's now at least clear that it would be called the Pulsar 150NS at least in that country.

According to the leaked document the engine capacity of the new machine is slightly higher at 149.5 cc (compared to 149.01 cc currently). The single-cylinder motor produces 17 PS of power at 9,000 rpm and 13 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm, and is mated to a five speed gearbox. This is great news for buyers interested in the Pulsar 150, as the new version gets 1.9 bhp of power boost and .5 Nm higher torque compared to the current version.

However, the petrol tank size gets reduced from the current 15 litres to 12 litres on the new Pulsar 150NS. For braking, the 150NS would employ a disc brake (specifications unknown till now) upfront and a drum at the rear.

The 150 NS is very likely one of the six launches Bajaj Auto has planned for the first half of the year in India.

Other changes on the Pulsar 150NS would be the addition of a monoshock at the rear replacing the twin spring suspension. The new bike has grown bigger in every dimension over the current version, but maintains the exact same weight at 144 kg.

While these are the tech specs of the Pulsar 150NS in Turkey, we expect an almost similar-spec motorcycle to launch in India as well. Whether it would be called the Pulsar 150NS or simply the Pulsar 150 is yet not known. The 150NS is expected to be launched in India very soon, as a part of the 6-model role-out that Bajaj Auto has planned for 2015.

In another development, BikesIndia has uploaded a new gallery of the Pulsar 150NS from its recently held preview at a Turkish Motor Show.
