Spied - Bajaj RE60 LHD export variant caught testing
The Bajaj RE60 is expected to launch after October this year. In a development earlier this month, the Ministry of Roads and Transport said that quadricycles could start plying on Indian roads after October 1, 2014. Bajaj, which is ready with the RE60, will waste no time in launching the quadricycle.
Apart from launching it in the domestic market, Bajaj has always maintained that it was keenly studying export markets for the RE60. Certain Asian markets like Sri Lanka were identified for the RE60, though Bajaj has not confirmed the exact export markets for the quadricycle.
Spied here is a left-hand drive RE60 meant for export markets. Production of the RE60 will take place at Bajaj's Aurangabad plant for both domestic and export demand.
At the Auto Expo this year, Bajaj released the specifications of the RE60. Power is confirmed to come from a 216 cc liquid-cooled, 4-valve, fuel-injected engine with triple spark. The engine will be offered in LPG, CNG and gasoline (petrol) variants. A 5-speed manual transmission with a dashboard-mounted gearlever would be used.
The RE60 is claimed to achieve a top-speed of 70 km/h, with a fuel efficiency rating of 37 km/l and CO2 emissions of 60 g/km.
