BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo - Auto Expo 2018 Live
The BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo has made its Indian debut at Auto Expo 2018. Showcasing the car for the first time here, BMW has concurrently announced the local launch of the new GT.
The BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo is the successor to the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo, which was launched in India as the BMW Gran Turismo. Unlike the 5 Series GT, which was limited to 100 units, it is a regular model. While the 5 Series GT was a CBU import, the 6 Series GT is a locally-produced model.
Adaptive LED headlights, LED DRLs, LED turn indicators, LED fog lights, frameless windows, flat L-shaped LED rear lights and active rear spoiler are among the BMW 6 Series GT’s main exterior features. There are three exterior colour choices: Alpine White, Glacier Silver and Mediterranean Blue.
Inside, the BMW 6 Series GT has 10.25-inch Navigation System Professional touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and BMW Gesture Control, panoramic glass roof, 4-zone automatic climate control, 12.3-inch virtual instrument cluster, electric Roller Sunblind and Rear Seat Entertainment Professional system consisting of two tiltable 10.2-inch colour screens and a Blu-Ray drive.
BMW offers the BMW 6 Series GT in India exclusively in the Sport Line equipment line.
Sport Line-specific exterior equipment includes BMW Kidney Grille frame in chrome high-gloss, vertical slats of the BMW Kidney Grille, front fog light housing, Air Breather finisher, B-pillar, mirror base and mirror foot in black high-gloss, ‘Sport Line’ lettering on the side, aluminium high-gloss window surrounds, 18-inch double-spoke 619-style alloy wheels and circular dual tailpipes with black chrome trim.
Illuminated aluminium door sill finishers with ‘Sport Line’ lettering, sport seats (front), Dakota leather upholstery with line-specific stitching and leather piping, car key with buttons and chrome detailing in high-gloss, black high-gloss trim finishers with Pearl Chrome accent and Sensatec instrument panel are the interior features brought by the Sport Line equipment line.
The BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo is available in India in only the base model - the BMW 630i. This model is powered by the 2.0-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol engine that develops 258 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission is standard and it sends power to the rear wheels. The xDrive permanent AWD system is unavailable in the Indian-spec version. For ensuring a high level of comfort, though, BMW does offer adaptive 2-axle air suspension, as standard.
The BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo retails at INR 58,90,000 (ex-showroom). Dealerships have started taking orders for the Audi A7 rival. A diesel model will follow later this year.
