BMW Concept Path 22 - 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show Live
BMW's take on a scrambler motorcycle.
BMW Motorrad has showcased the Concept Path 22 at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA 2014). This is the company's take on a scrambler, built based on the popular BMW R nineT roadster. Unveiled earlier this year, the BMW Path 22 Concept made its first public appearance at the Wheels & Waves Festival in June, 2015.
The company's first attempt at a scrambler model, features a reworked suspension and milled aluminium 5-spoke alloy wheels shod with beefy tyres, as compared to the R nineT. Other features include body artwork by Ornamental Conifer (aka Nico Sclater), a ribbed leather seat, turn signals integrated into the handlebar ends and stainless steel Akrapovic tailpipes.
The BMW scrambler concept is portrayed as a fun filled vehicle supporting adventurous activities following riding a motorcycle, by providing a surfboard carrier on the side of the scrambler. The model comes with a two customs surfboards created by Mason Dyer, which are mounted onto a specially-designed surfboard holder. While not heading to the beach, the surfboard mounting bracket can be folded or dismounted.
The BMW Concept Path 22 seems to be powered by the same air-cooled, flat-twin (boxer) engine that propels the R nineT, producing 110 bhp maximum power at 7,550 rpm and 118 Nm (87 ft-lb) peak torque at 6,000 rpm, sending power to the wheel via cardan drive (shaft drive).
Alongside the BMW Path 22, BMW Motorrad is showcasing the BMW F 800, the BMW S 1000 RR, the BMW S 1000 XR and the BMW R nineT at the 66th Frankfurt Motor Show, now.
