BS-VI Honda Activa 125 sales cross 25,000 units

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India launched its first BS-VI compliant bike, the SP 125, today (14 November). At the launch event, Minoru Kato, President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, also spoke about the company’s festive season sales performance.

The BS-VI Honda Activa 125 was launched in September this year.

Kato said that this festive season recorded a double-digit retail sales growth over the last year. He also added that the newly launched BS-VI Activa 125 has received a positive response, and over 25,000 units of the scooter have already been delivered to their owners. Below is what Kato said:

This is our first meeting post the festive season. I am very happy to share with you that with our good preparations and excellent customer response, Honda 2wheelers realized a double-digit retail sales growth this festive season over the last year. Our flagship model, the Activa continued to lead from the front as India’s most preferred two-wheeler brand. I am also happy to share that India’s first mass segment BS-VI two-wheeler, the new Honda Activa 125 BS-VI, has got an excellent market response. Close to 25,000 customers celebrated this festival with a Quiet Revolution.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India launched the new, BS-VI Activa 125 in our market on 11 September and started its deliveries in October. The scooter is available in three variants – Standard (INR 67,490), Alloy (INR 70,990) and Deluxe (INR 74,490). Buyers can select between four colours options – Pearl Precious White, Midnight Blue Metallic, Heavy Grey Metallic and Rebel Red Metallic.

Honda claims to use 26 new patent applications on the BS-VI version of the Activa 125. The scooter comes with a three-year warranty as standard and an extended three-year warranty can be purchased separately. A similar warranty option is also available for the BS-VI SP 125.

The BS-VI Honda Activa 125 packs several styling and mechanical upgrades over its predecessor. The design updates include LED headlight with signature LED Position Lamp, new semi-digital instrument console, 5-in-1 key slot, external fuel lid, front glove box and a side-stand indicator with engine inhibitor.

Mechanical specifications include a 124 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled motor with fuel injection system. The engine produces 6.10 kW or 8.29 PS of peak power at 6,500 rpm in BS-VI guise. Honda promises a 13% improvement in the fuel economy numbers on the BS-VI Activa 125.

In other updates, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has revealed that it has aggressive plans to expand its premium motorcycle portfolio in the Indian market. The company plans to double its premium portfolio and manufacture superbikes in India.
