This is the Chinese version of the 2016 Verano.

The 2016 Buick Verano made its debut at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show last April. The compact sedan has received a thorough makeover for the automaker's biggest market.

The front end prominently displays the Buick 'Waterfall' grille.

The space upfront is mostly taken up by the big fourteen vertical slat chromed 'waterfall' grille. The headlights look like projector units and they also get stylish-looking LED DRLs. The sides feature sharp lines and creases that add an element of dynamism to the body. The posterior has a subtle spoiler, chrome-tip twin exhausts and wraparound tail lights.

The interior looks premium with a mix of wood and leather. The three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel contains buttons for controlling audio and telephony. Behind it, there is a two-pod instrument cluster with a TFT screen in-between them displaying important information. The wooden trim adds a touch of class to the interior and is seen mostly on the center console and dashboard. The infotainment screen is placed on the dashboard, which also sees a chrome strip run along its entire length.

The sides feature sharp sweeping lines and creases, adding a touch of dynamism.

The Verano will be manufactured by the Shanghai-GM venture and will come with the option of two petrol engines. The first engine is a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated four cylinder unit producing 118 hp that can be mated to either a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox. There is also a turbocharged version of the same engine that outputs 170 hp but comes married exclusively to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
