CFMoto 300NK, 650NK, 650MT India launch scheduled in May 2019 – Report

CFMoto products have been spotted on Indian roads on several occasions in the past. While we are still awaiting an official announcement about the launch details, a report from ZigWheels claims that the brand would commence operations in the country next month (May 2019).

CFMoto would reportedly commence India operations next month with the launch of 300NK, 650NK and the 650MT. It would add two more models towards the end of 2019.

A company official told the website that CFMoto would display five motorcycles at the launch event. The report further adds that the company would begin its business in the Indian market with the launch of three models – the 300NK, 650NK and the 650MT – next month while the 400NK and the 650GT would arrive closer to the festive season.

The Chinese brand would partner with Bangalore based AMW Motorcycles and import its products via the CKD route. The motorcycles would be assembled at AMW Motorcycles’ facility in Hyderabad. As reported last month, AMW Motorcycles’ website lists the CFMoto 250NK, 400NK, 650NK naked roadsters and 650MT tourer. The company’s Facebook page names even more models such as 300NK, 400GT, 650GT and 650TK in its products column.

CFMoto products like the 300NK (what was initially expected to be the 250NK), 400NK, 650NK and the 650MT have already been spotted on Indian roads.

The 250NK uses a 249.2 cc, liquid cooled, 4-valve, DOHC, single cylinder engine that delivers 26.5 PS of power at 9,000 rpm and 22 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm. The 300NK would most likely be a re-bored version of the quarter-litre motor that would deliver slightly higher performance numbers. Rest of the hardware specifications would be identical to the 250NK, and the 300NK would come equipped with upside-down forks and fully digital instrument console among others.

The 650NK and the 650MT use a 649.3 cc, 2-cylinder inline, 8-valve, liquid cooled, DOHC engine with Bosch EFI system but in different tunings. The motor is tuned to deliver 61.1 PS at 9,000 rpm and 56 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm on the naked roadster. The tourer, on the other hand, draws 70.7 PS at 8,750 rpm and 62 Nm at 7,000 rpm from the engine. This engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox.

CFMoto products would be imported to India via the CKD route to keep the prices competitive, and the assembly would take place at AMW Motorcycles’ facility in Hyderabad.

The specs for the 650GT are not available, but they are not likely to be too different from the 650MT. The 300NK would compete with the likes of KTM 390 Duke, BMW G 310 R and Bajaj Dominar 400, while the 650NK would lock horns with Benelli 600i and Kawasaki Z650 among others. The 650MT would go against the Kawasaki Versys 650, Benelli TRK 502 and the likes.
