China - Volvo S60L spotted testing
AutoHome have posted what we believe is the first photograph/spyshot showing the Volvo S60L sedan. The stretched version of the S60 is heading for production in October at the Chengdu plant, according to the report.
Analyzing the spyshot, the donor car is the facelifted S60, sporting a single-piece headlight, that globally premiered at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this month.
Volvo is a participant of the long wheelbase market, having launched the S80L in China a few years ago. Volvo does not produce long wheelbase cars outside China. They are made only in LHD and are reserved strictly for the domestic market.
The Volvo S60L is elongated by around 12 centimeters near the B-Pillar, releasing extra space for rear occupants. Power will come from 2.0L turbo and 3.0L turbo petrol motors.
The S60 is currently imported into China from the European factory. Prices of the locally produced version could start at around 220,000 yuan (19.23 lakhs). Competition comes from the BMW 3 Series (3 Li) and the Audi A4L.
The report adds that the second model that will be produced in Chengdu is the Volvo XC60.
