Citroen Aircross concept - Auto Shanghai Live
The world debut of the Citroen Aircross concept was held at Auto Shanghai 2015. The SUV concept is the French automaker's way of celebrating its sales milestone of 50 million cars which it achieved after some 95 years after its establishment. The plug-in hybrid SUV concept is based on the C4 Cactus.
The front end sports a new chevron design and a pair of new two-tier headlights, which was first seen on the new-generation C4 Picasso. In place of the door protective "Airbumps" the concept features "Alloy Bumps", which positioned closer to the bottom of the car. The SUV's dominating character is represented by large fenders with chrome garnish and 22-inch alloy wheels shod in exclusive 275/42 R 22 Continental tyres.
At the rear, the there are new 3D-effect tail lights, vertical air outlets and black bumper housing two outlets on each side for trapezoidal exhaust pipes and a place in the center for a tow hook. Step inside the cabin and there's a trio of colors - black, white and orange, seen on most of the elements. There are four 'king-size' seats, a large panoramic sunroof, and a head-up display.
Also there are two 12-inch panoramic HD screens - one is of the instrument cluster and the other one is of the infotainment system. One of these two screens can be transferred from passenger to passenger with a movement of the hand via a detector on the center console. Moreover, both the screens can also be merged. All four seats are equipped with individual speakers and a microphone for clutterless communication. Using this "sound bubble", each passenger can discreetly speak to who they want to.
The 313 bhp plug-in hybrid powertrain consists of a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine that produces 218 bhp and 275 Nm of torque, and an electric motor that generates 70 kW (95 bhp) and 200 Nm of torque. The Citroen Aircross can reach 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. The PHEV has a pure-electric driving range of 31 miles (50 km) and the concept SUV has an impressive fuel economy figure of 166 UK mpg (58.82 km/l) and CO2 emissions of 39 g/km.
