DC Design launches 'Tornado' performance SUV concept; High resolution images added!
India's renowned design and prototyping company DC Design, has showcased a new concept that merges "supercar performance and style with an SUV's off-roading capability" based on the 2010 Imperator Concept.
The Imperator Concept was showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo back in January 2010. DC Design has kept itself busy with the development of the 'Avanti,' India's first supercar, and following its market launch, we will see DC Design move to commercializing the Tornado.
The DC Tornado is a 2+2 seater with a mid-engine layout, that processes power using a sequential shift gearbox, distributing drive to all four wheels. The car sits on enormous 325/25/28 tires.
Power is derived from 6-liter V12 Audi unit, configured to produce at least 25% more power and torque than the standard spec, which stands at 500PS and 1000Nm in some Audi vehicles.
The cabin is appointed with four individual seats that can be customized to provide different thigh and side support with the use of air cushion technology. Drive by wire, steer by wire, and brake by wire are notable technologies on this creation.
DC Design claims the floating dashboard and controls can be shifted easily to suit LHD markets, and the 'iDCdrive' system lets users play with the gizmos in the car.
Some of the other features revealed today are the HUD and rear view camera.
