Important cars at the Detroit Auto Show 2015 - IAB Picks

The 2015 Detroit Auto Show (2015 North American International Auto Show) is upon us tonight, and here are the anticipated cars that will make their world/public premiere at the first show of the year.

1. Alfa Romeo 4C Spider:

Based on the 4C, the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider drops its top quite literally. Power still comes from the 1.75-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine which catapults the car to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds.

2. 2016 Audi Q7:

The second generation Q7 will make its first appearance at the Detroit Show, and is reported to launch in India by the end of this year. Clearly, the highlight of the new SUV is its 325 kg weight loss.

3. Refreshed BMW 6 Series range:

BMW announced the refreshed 6 Series range in the last part of 2014. The updated 6-er range of cars don't get any mechanical improvements, but feature subtle styling changes and the inclusion of LED headlights.

4. Buick Avenir Concept and new Cascada:

Buick has announced the Avenir concept, which according to the American media could preview a new flagship sedan for the brand. The 2016 Cascada convertible will also be shown at the expo.

5. 2016 Chevrolet Volt:

The second generation Volt is announced with an electric only range of 50 miles (80 km). With a new powertrain comprising of a 1.5L engine, the new Volt is expected to put a better sales performance than its predecessor.

6. Infiniti Q60 Concept:

The concept previews a high-performance sports coupe and is powered by a twin-turbo V6 engine.

7. Mercedes GLE:

Merc's BMW X6 rival will get its public premiere at the show. Given that the company has announced 15 launches for India this year (several of which will not have any predecessors), don't be surprised to see the Mercedes GLE in a dealership near you.

8. Mercedes C450 AMG Sport and C350 Plug-in Hybrid:

Mercedes has announced a frugal C350 Plug-in Hybrid and a high-performance C450 AMG Sport variants for the new C Class at the Detroit Auto Show.

9. 2016 Nissan Titan:

The next gen Nissan Titan pickup is announced to debut at the show. So far, Nissan revealed a teaser image of it undergoing tests.

10. Honda NSX:

The Detroit Show will see the launch of the production version of the Honda NSX. The iconic sportscar is revived with a V6 hybrid powertrain.

11. Hyundai Sonata Hybrid:

Unveiled in Korea last month, the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid based on the new model claims an efficiency of 18.2 km/l.

12. 2016 Toyota Tacoma:

The next gen Toyota Tacoma's images were released last week, but the show will see Toyota announce its specifications and powertrain lineup.

13. VW Cross Coupe GTE Concept:

The VW Cross Coupe GTE is a 5-seat SUV concept that previews the design of VW's mid-size SUV, announced to enter production in the U.S.A. in 2016.

14. Volvo S60 Cross Country:

Thought the 'Cross Country' nameplate is reserved for hatchbacks and estates? Thing again as the high-riding Volvo S60 Cross Country premieres at the show tonight.
