Force Motors reveals details and launch date for One SUV
Force Motors has announced the launch date of One – It’s August 19.
Force One will be Force Motors' first foray in the personal car segment. The company is betting big on Force One, and expecting it to do well, it has planned a family van for 2012.
The Force One has been under testing for a year now. Essentially Force Motors has leveraged on its Daimler connections to complete this project. The Force One uses Daimler's CRDI engine with the capacity of 2.2L and an output of 140 PS @3800 RPM along with 315Nm@1600-2400rpm. The engine will be mated to a manual transmission - G 32/5 from Daimler to be precise.
The same engine is offered on the Mercedes C-Class model with two different outputs.
Force One will boast supreme handling skills because its suspension is fine tuned by Lotus Engineering – the same company that worked on Tata Aria and Mahindra Scorpio.
Its front suspension has an independent double wishbone and a coil spring with gas-charged telescopic shock absorbers, as well as an anti-roll bar. Its rear suspension comprises of a multi-link with pan hard rod & coil spring with gas-charged telescopic shock absorbers as well as an anti-roll bar.
It will also feature 16 inch alloy wheels and a high ground clearance to make it off-road ready. Both 4x2 and 4x4 versions will be presented, but the latter might not enter the market immediately.
We have posted some spy pics of the Force One’s interiors previously. The interiors boast of leather seats and faux wood finish to give it a plush feel. It will also feature driver information system, cruise control, audio control mounted on steering, electric outside mirrors & dual AC vents.
The expected price of the Force one is going to be around 11-13 lakhs. The Force One will compete against Mahindra Scorpio and the soon to be launched Tata Safari Merlin. The company expects to sell 4,000 units a year, which is a very optimistic goal.
