Old Ford Fiesta getting a second facelift to live on in LATAM - Report
Reports from Brazil had earlier revealed that the latest Ford Fiesta (7th generation) would not make an entry, rather being exclusive to Europe, Middle East and Africa. However, Ford Brazil wishes to continue selling the sixth generation Fiesta and is working on a second facelift to freshen it up for the extended stint.
Based on spy shots of facelifted Fiesta's bumper that surfaced around the web, Autos Segredos created a rendering of the complete car that integrates said bumper. As you can tell, the new bumper and grille designs are inspired by the 7th generation Ford Fiesta, featuring a honeycomb grille, cleaner styling with larger air inlets, chrome accents and new foglamps. At the back, the taillamps and bumper will receive small tweaks, while the side profile remains unchanged.
As for engine lineup, the facelifted Fiesta will retain the current lineup of engines that includes the 1.6L Flex Fuel and 1.0L EcoBoost. The 1.6 16v drive delivers 125 bhp at 6,500 rpm and 15.8 kg.m at 5,000 rpm. Transmission options include a five-speed manual transmission and the six-speed PowerShift automatic. The 1.0 Ecoboost engine outputs 125 hp and 17.3 kg.m, paired with a 6-speed PowerShift gearbox only.
Other than Brazil, the new Ford Fiesta will not be landing on U.S showrooms as well. At the IAA 2017, Ford Performance Europe’s director Leo Roeks confirmed that the Fiesta ST would not be launched in the U.S. Even the base models will not make the cut as the demand for B-Segment hatchbacks in the US, China and Latin America are declining, and Ford is reacting accordingly. Instead, the India-made Ford EcoSport SUV will fill the gap left by the Fiesta come 2018.
