Ford Mondeo facelift spotted undisguised - China
Debuts at Shanghai Auto Show next month with minor cosmetic changes.
Ifeng has shared the very first spyshots of new Ford Mondeo facelift. Reportedly a China-spec operation, the mid-size sedan will be unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show that begins on April 20, and go on sale in the second half of the year.
The prototype sports a taller grille, front bumper with connected foglamps, new headlight graphics, and wraparound taillamp without the kink. A chrome strip between the tail lamp units finds a place on the boot. The tiny ‘fins’ on the rear deck of the outgoing Mondeo is gone and is now more flattened.
Ford Mondeo, which is sold as Ford Fusion in the USA, is in its fourth generation and sits on the company’s CD4 platform. The Toyota Camry competitor measures 4,869 mm in length, 1,852 mm in width, and 1,476 mm in height. Globally, the Mondeo/ Fusion is positioned between the compact Ford Focus and the full-size Ford Taurus, which will renewed this year.
With the facelift, however, the mechanicals of the sedan are not likely to change. The car will be offered with the same 1.5-liter EcoBoost petrol producing 181 hp, 2.0-liter EcoBoost petrol making 203 hp, and its high-performance variant churning out up to 242 hp of power. A 6-speed ‘SelectShift’ automatic transmission is standard to the Mondeo line-up.

Ford manufactures the Mondeo family sedan in China under Changan-Ford joint venture. Ford India offered the Mondeo sedan in India a decade back, but was discontinued in few years from launch due to poor sales. As of now, the company's energies are focused on the sub-4m segment.
