Fully-faired Hero Xtreme 200R - IAB Rendering

Hero MotoCorp will likely launch three new products in the 200 cc segment of the Indian market on 1 May. These will likely be the XPulse 200, XPulse 200T (Tourer) and a fully-faired version of the Xtreme 200R.

IAB's digital artist Shoeb Kalania has created a rendering of the fully-faired Hero Xtreme 200R with all the details available so far. The rendered bike features the front fascia of the Hero HX250R, a product that was showcased at Auto Expo 2016 but never made it to production, along with the styling of the Xtreme 200R naked roadster.

The rendered motorcycle features a fully-faired design with a tall windscreen for better protection from the windblasts than the naked roadster. Clubbed with the upright ergonomics, the fully-faired Xtreme 200R shall pack better-touring capabilities. The Xtreme 200R roadster is one of the most refined motorcycles in its segment, and its fully-faired sibling should carry the same traits.

A significant change, however, will be seen in the cockpit. The fully-faired model, as seen in the spy video, is equipped with the same instrument console as the XPulse duo. The console on the XPulse is a fully-digital unit with Bluetooth connectivity, and the same features are likely to be seen on the fully-faired Xtreme 200R.

The fully-faired Hero Xtreme 200R, like the Hero XPulse 200 duo, is expected to come with a BS-VI compliant motor with fuel injection technology, basically an upgraded version of the Hero Xtreme 200R's BS-IV 199.6 cc single-cylinder 2-valve, SOHC, air-cooled unit (18.4 PS/17.1 Nm). The performance numbers may see a marginal bump, and the fuel-injection tech will deliver better response to the throttle inputs.

The suspension and braking hardware of the fully-faired motorcycle will most definitely be identical to that of the naked roadster: conventional telescopic forks at the front and an adjustable monoshock at the rear. The safety-net will include a single-channel ABS as standard. This model will compete with the Bajaj Pulsar RS200, Pulsar 180F, Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 and the upcoming KTM RC125, and likely retail at just under INR l lakh (ex-showroom).
