Daimler India Commercial Vehicles' (DICV) manufacturing plant in Chennai has been producing export oriented Mitsubishi FUSO (a Japanese subsidiary of Daimler Trucks) branded mid-premium trucks alongside BharatBenz products.

As a part of Daimler's Trucks Asia Business model, the made-in-India FUSO trucks have been launched in Bangladesh. Bangladesh is the sixth export market for DICV as the commercial vehicle major is already exporting FUSO trucks from India to Kenya, Zambia, Tanzania, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. More markets would be added in due course across Asia and Africa.

The India-made FUSO trucks already serve Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Sri Lanka and Kenya.

The FUSO trucks will be imported and sold in Bangladesh by Rangs Motors Limited, an authorized local distributor for Mitsubishi FUSO Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC). The India-made FUSO truck range comprises of 5 models spanning medium (9-16T GVW) and heavy-duty (25-49T GVW) segments.

The FUSO FA and FI medium-duty and FJ, FO and FZ heavy-duty trucks are basically rebadged BharatBenz models. FUSO brand has presence in 35 African markets and is looking to increase its quantum of business in the region by introducing new products and entering new markets. In India, DICV sold 2,203 units of BharatBenz trucks in Q1 2014 which is a 67% growth compared to same period last year.

The Trucks Asia Business model creates synergies between Japan-based MFTBC and India-based DICV under the umbrella of Daimler Trucks Asia.
