Harley Davidson Livewire electric bike to be showcased at EICMA 2018

In an official media communication, Harley Davidson has announced that the production version of the Harley Davidson LiveWire electric bike will make its European debut at EICMA 2018 on 6 November.

Harley Davidson LiveWire will be the first electric motorcycle from the American bike maker.

The Harley Davidson LiveWire has been under development for years, and the near-production model was seen earlier this year. In July, Harley Davidson announced that the LiveWire electric bike will reach customers by 2019. Ahead of the EICMA 2018, in a press statement, Harley Davidson announced, -

“The all-new electric Harley-Davidson® LiveWire will make its European debut at EICMA, Milan on November 6, 2018. The first public viewing of the electric-powered LiveWire™ in Europe will give show visitors the chance to get up close to the production-ready motorcycle – previously only seen in prototype format.”

The communication further stated, -

“On sale in 2019 LiveWire is the first in a portfolio of electric two-wheelers from Harley-Davidson, as announced in July as part of the company’s accelerated growth strategy – “More Roads to Harley-Davidson”. This accelerated growth strategy is an aggressive multi-faceted approach to grow ridership, enter new segments and evolve the Harley-Davidson retail experience. Alongside LiveWire the company also announced Adventure and Streetfighter models to be launched in 2020.”

Harley-Davidson will offer a range of electric motorcycles in the future, and the LiveWire will be the company’s first EV. The complete EV range will be available by 2022. The Harley-Davidson LiveWire will come equipped with top-shelf components like Showa inverted forks at the front and a mono-shock at the back.
Braking components will include twin rotors at the front and a single disc at the back with Brembo callipers. Typical of a Harley Davidson, power will be transferred to the wheel via a final belt drive. The LiveWire will be the first bike from the American manufacturer to come without a clutch and gear-shift lever.

The Harley Davidson Project LiveWire concept was first showcased in 2014.
