Petrol engine gets new transmissions for Indonesian market.

While the Indonesian market got their first look at the Honda BR-V at the GIIAS show in Jakarta this August, the Indian audience can look forward to the Auto Expo 2016 to catch a first glimpse of the BR-V.

For India, the BR-V will be powered by petrol and diesel engines.

President & CEO of Honda Cars India Ltd. Mr. Katsushi Inoue, confirmed to Indian Autos Blog that the market launch of the BR-V will be held in the next financial year. Inoue further confirmed the availability of petrol and diesel engines for the Indian market.

The BR-V will first enter production at PT Honda Prospect's Karawang plant in West Java, Indonesia, beginning early-2016. For the Indian market, the crossover is reported to enter prodution at Honda Cars India's Tapukara plant in Rajasthan beginning April 2016.

The BR-V is based on the Honda Brio/Amaze platform.

For both markets, the petrol engine of the BR-V will be carried over from the Honda City. The 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine will develop 118 hp and 145 Nm of torque. In Indonesia, this engine engine will be paired to a 6-speed manual or a newly-developed CVT.

For the Indian market, the BR-V will also use the 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel engine, though a report says that Honda is likely to choose a 1.6-liter i-DTEC engine specifically for the BR-V.
