Honda Cars India relaunched the Jazz on July 8, and it quickly climbed ahead of the Honda City in July sales. Now, the company has stated that it has managed to sell 9,000 units of the premium hatch in just one month.

The new Jazz was launched on July 8 for a price of INR 5.3 lakhs.

It was reported earlier that Honda had ramped up production to keep up with the demand for the Jazz. This ramp up came at the cost of cutting back production of the Amaze and Mobilio. The adjustment resulted in July sales for Amaze falling from 6,834 units to 4,589 units, while sales of the Mobilio showed a meager decrease from 1,043 units in June to 909 units in July.

Unlike the earlier generation and largely behind its success, the new Jazz is offered with the option of a 1.5-liter i-DTEC engine – producing 99 bhp – that also powers the City, Amaze and Mobilio. It is mated only to a 6-speed manual gearbox for a fuel efficiency of 27.3 km/l.

It is reported that 25 percent of the Jazz bookings are for the CVT (petrol).

The petrol variant is driven by the 1.2-liter i-VTEC unit producing 90 bhp and is mated to a 5-speed manual with an optional CVT automatic. The manual petrol delivers a mileage of 18.7 km/l while the CVT gives 19 km/l (ARAI approved).
