Is this the first sighting of the Honda XRE300 in India?
Honda India will be launching their first adventure oriented product, the Honda Africa Twin by August.
An image shared on a Team-BHP forum thread claims to be the first sighting of the Honda XRE300 in India. However, there is no proof that the bike has indeed been clicked in India and can be anywhere in the world.
The Honda XRE300 was introduced in 2009 and got a refresh in 2015. For MY2017 the bike gained a new digital instrumentation which despite having a tiny LCD, adds a premium touch. The bike gets long travel telescopic fork up front and a pro link monoshock in the rear. The 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel seem ready to take on any terrain and will be a boon on Indian roads.

The brakes include discs at both ends with combined ABS as an option. The Honda XRE300 tips the scales at 153 kg (dry) for the ABS version while the seat height is set at 860 mm. The 259 mm ground clearance though will bring a smile on the face of enthusiasts.
Powering the Honda XRE300 is a 291.6 cc single cylinder, DOHC, air-cooled mill coupled to a 5-speed gearbox. The engine is capable of producing 25.4 hp of power at 7,500 rpm and 27 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm.

The Honda XRE300 adventure motorcycle is priced in Brazil at BRL 16,890, and if Honda India can price it around the 2 lakh mark, it can be a scorcher. However, we are not sure if Honda will place its bets on a vehicle from 2009 to make an impact in the Indian 250+cc segment that is fast evolving through design and technology.
