Hyundai AH2 (2018 Hyundai Santro) 23 October unveil announced
Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has just communicated to us that the global debut of the AH2 (codename), its 'Contemporary Family Car with Modern and Stylish Tall Boy Design' will take place on 23 October 2018 at an event in New Delhi.
Recapping, the Hyundai AH2 is highly speculated to be responsible for the revival of the Santro brand in India. The company has concluded the 'Hyundai naamkaran' contest to invite suggestions for the market name of its new small car. A majority of the participants reportedly suggested 'Santro' as the name for the new small car.
Underpinning the AH2 is an updated version of the last generation i10's HA platform, which is stiffer than the Eon's PA platform. The new small car will comply with the stringent safety regulations that come into effect from 1 October 2018. Standard safety features across all the trims will include ABS, dual front airbags, seatbelt reminder for front seats, reverse parking sensors, speed-sensing door lock, impact-sensing door unlock, and a speed alert system.
The Hyundai AH2 will be reportedly powered by a new version of the 1.1-litre four-cylinder petrol engine from under the hood of the last generation i10. The revised motor will be BSVI compliant and will come mated to an optional 5-speed AMT. While the AH2 will be the first Hyundai model to have an AMT, the transmission choice, which will be marketed as 'Smart Auto', will make it to the next-generation Grand i10 and Elite i20.

Prices of the new small car from Hyundai should start at Rs 4 lakh.
